Participation in “DHC Days 2017”, Frebuary 21-22, Lyon

PITAGORAS project was presented at this two day workshop, which took place last February in Lyon, France. The event was cohosted by CELSIUS together with the Métropole de Lyon and the United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) District Energy in Cities Initiative, and gathered 140 participants and 40 speakers in seminars and round table sessions.

One of the main topics of this conference was focused on urban waste heat recovery, which was identified as one of the most important goals for the future development of District Heating (DH), especially taking into account the new low-temperature technologies. PITAGORAS aligns perfectly with that goal; in fact, it meets the recommendations that have been presented for DH operators and owners in relation to the identification and use of heat sources already available within the cities.

Additionally, the economic part was especially considered, covering the methodologies (strategies, business models, etc.) used to value the aforementioned urban waste heat sources.

In this context, the concept developed in Brescia within the PITAGORAS project was presented as an example of successful application of both technical and economic solutions, resulting in an efficient integration of industrial parks into city districts through smart thermal grids. More specific information on those technical particularities and the financial and business model can be found in the following slideshow: "Business models that provide a win-win situation", PITAGORAS Presentation at DHC Days 2017
